Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles - Answers to common questions
So let's start off with some burning questions about the Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles.
1. How well do they work?
2. Are they safe?
3. How durable are they?
4. Really what uses do they have?
5. Is it worth the money?
How Well Do They Work?
This is the bottom line question for most people how well do they work? Here's what I have to say. It does work surprisingly well at least that's what I thought. So while I don't think the Army is running out to your local toy store and stalking up on these babies for kids and some adults these work great. It's a price to value thing for this price it's a great value and works very well.
When you first put on the EyeClops Night Vision Goggles you become a bit disoriented due to the monocular fashion that the camera comes into the goggles. This monocular view allows for the night vision mode to be seen through only one of your eyes. At first use this causes a sense of disorientation that goes away after about a minute. It was an odd feeling of nauseousness for me - but the kids seem to love it! I've gotten soft as I've grown up so nauseousness need only be for the flu season for me. The narrow field of view when using the night vision is also a bit unnerving. It's narrowness also lends to a bit of disorientation - and once again my kids love it.
If you are from the armed forces or a rapid outdoors man who love to stalk things at night I don't reccomend these you could really do better and should do better. There are much nicer ones out there that are designed just for the hunter or assasin or what ever. Remember this is supposed to be a kids toy and for that I would say go for it.
Are They Safe?
The Eyeclops Goggles come with a small list of warnings as with any toy in todays market. Direct from Eyeclops themselves are the following warnings italics are my personel comments:
- If you experience any dizziness, discomfort or disorientation, remove goggles immediately (should go with out saying but you can never be to safe I guess.)
- NEVER wear while operating vehicles or riding bicycles, skateboards, or skates. (trees hurt regardless of how well you see them at night these do take some getting used to)
- NEVER wear while operating machinery. Goggles are a toy and are not safety goggles.
- NEVER explore surroundings that might be considered dangerous even during daytime. Always use good judgment and common sense.(It's hard to teach common sense but use what you have PLEASE)
- NEVER use goggles as a life saving device since they are a toy.
- ALWAYS carry a flashlight and extra batteries when batteries run down.
- ALWAYS tighten goggles to fit securely.(it does you no good if your stealth help keeps falling around your neck)
So while these may have some cool features on them it is very clear that it has limitations. These are as safe as any other goggle device out there. It is a toy and I wouldn't take it for sniper practice but you don't have to worry about damage to the eyes or brain from using this technology. There are some who would beg to differ but in my opinion be smart and you'll be fine. When was the last time you had night vision at this kind of price?
Really What are the Eyeclops Night Vision Goggles used for?
First of all when your dealing with toys does everything need a specific use? I would say no, but the biggest use for these seems to be for AWSOME FUN!
You will seriously be surprised by how well this "kid's toy" actually works. EyeClops Night Vision review has experinced that using true IR lights and a small LCD screen inside the kit, you will be able to make your way around a room in pitch black darkness at least that is what my crack staff of neighborhood kids says. You will definitely be able to avoid bumping into objects while your friends or anyone else who's with you will stumble because they can't see. This means you can dominate your night games or your secret stealth mission to surprise your friends.
So what else could they be used for?
Well ask your kids and listen to thier imagination. These are superpowers in a box and how often can a person give superpowers? For anyone who plays night time hide and seek or laser tag, the EyeClops Night Vision goggles will be an essential piece of gear that will give them the advantage that they seek. EyeClops Night Vision review said you could run circles around competitors who must use a flashlight in order to see their way through the darkness. Many people have suggested you could effectively use the goggles to aid you in your stealth mission as you slink by unnoticed, or find a safe position to gain the upper hand.
Now you can see that the uses are really just for night time fun, but remember even if as an adult you choose to use this for other purposes it was desinged as a toy for kids. So get your own and keep track of your kids, or give it to your kids and let them run free in covert operations.
Are they worth the money?
It's hard to tell you a price because you can find them in a wide variety of price ranges. In my opinion yes they are worth the 50 - 70 dollar range you will find them in. I like the features they provide and the night vision opprotunity they give. It's hard to argue with that again they aren't the worlds greatest and if you have training in other night vision goggles you probably want to stick with them. For the kids and some adults you can't beat the affordability and the results.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I put this thing on. The Eyeclops only lets you see out of the right eye and pretty much blocks your left eye which affects your depth perception so don't think you can drive with your headlights off while wearing these. I did get used to the 'pirate's view' and the image that comes through the screen is amazing. You really can see in total darkness and flipping on the IR 'spotlight' really increases the range and brightness of objects that are closer. These are just as good and costs a lot less than military night vision goggles.
